Start A Chapter

Global HEED chapters can be started at high schools and universities after a student or group of students apply online to start a chapter. Global HEED works directly with these students to help start the process of being officially recognized by the school as a chartered organization. Constant communication between Global HEED staff and Global HEED chapters is imperative. Global HEED serves to engage other students in raising awareness in issues related to health, education, and poverty.

What is a Global HEED Chapter?

Global HEED chapters engage other students to become servant-leaders by serving as volunteers on our service trips, serve as a fundraising source for our initiatives, develop and implement local initiatives, raise awareness of issues that deal with health, education, poverty and economic development. If interested in being a part of a global corps of volunteers that will directly make a difference in our project sites please fill out the online application to start a Global HEED chapter at your school.

What is the process of starting a Global HEED Chapter?

Individuals and/or group of students can apply online to start Global HEED chapters at their schools. After applying online, a Global HEED staff member will contact the person to help establish the chapter. The minimum requirements needed to start the process of establishing a Global HEED chapter is a President, Treasurer, Advisor (faculty or staff from the school), and a petition of interest signed by at least 10 students from the school who can serve as non-executive general body members. Your school will have their own rules of starting an officially recognized organization. A chapter will be officially recognized as a Global HEED chapter upon receipt of a temporary or perpetual charter.

What are the requirements of maintaining a Global HEED chapter?

Chapters are required to hold two executive board meetings every month, fill out biweekly online reports, and have conference call meetings every month with a Global HEED staff. Your school will have its own requirements of maintaining a chartered organization in good standing.
